GEOGRAPHY - EXPLORING THE SEVEN CONTINENTS (1 hour)
DESCRIPTION: This class will explore the culture and people groups of each continent, present information about each continent, and include some related hands-on art/cooking projects. Please mark any food allergies on the registration form.
TEACHER: Martha Kirkman has been a teacher for 26-1/2 years: 14 years as a Kindergarten teacher and 12-1/2 years as a 4 and 5 year old nursery school teacher. Martha received her BS from Winona State University with a major in Elementary Education and a Minor in Early Childhood. She has been retired for 8 years but keeps up teaching at Kingdom Kids Preschool as a substitute teacher. Martha has traveled extensively to 6 of the 7 continents and to all 50 states in the USA, plus Mexico and Canada. Her passion is missions and cultural studies. Martha loves to read, travel, geo-cache, cook, bake, and make candy. She has been married to her best friend, Karl, for 39-1/2 years.
INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING (1 hour)
DESCRIPTION: This is a very hands-on class where we will take science and math to show how they can be used in very practical ways. We will work with circuits, paper airplanes, flow charts, and explore other areas of engineering.
PUBLIC SPEAKING (20 minutes)
TEACHER: Charlotte Dance graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Kansas. She worked as a computer engineer doing troubleshooting and programming at IBM. Her latest job has been homeschooling her daughters. Now that one has graduated and the other has progressed to having her father teach her, it is a good thing that she has a very busy seven year old boy to practice all the class projects on.
DESCRIPTION: One time during the session, each student will have the opportunity to share in front of their class about a a favorite pet, family outing, special project, interesting information about a historical place, something they're studying, etc.
GYM (40 minutes)
DESCRIPTION: Fun group & skill games
